Rhonda Waneka has been teaching in the fitness industry since the age of 18. In 1994 she started teaching step aerobics and ever since has had a serious passion for exercise. She did her first CrossFit “WOD” in 2008. She got distracted for the next two years starting her family but in 2009 she got her Level 1 and has never looked back.
“CrossFit has changed my life. I was at a point in my life where I felt like what next? I had graduated from college, got married, had kids, what was left? The gym became a place where I set goals and achieved them. Everyone remembers the first day they got double unders or when they finally mastered their kipping pull-ups, and even years later still setting goals like the muscle up or pr’ing your snatch. The goal setting never ends and one can achieve things they never thought possible. CrossFit has given me a confidence I have never had before, and it carries over into my everyday life. And I have to say that what is even better than my own successes are the successes of my clients. There is nothing better than watching someone struggle to get a skill and then the look on their face when they get their first handstand or jump on the 20” box.
I love leading our Foundations Course. I love coaching people thru the nuances of each complicated and crazy move we do, I love teaching them the philosophies of CrossFit and how CrossFit can have a huge impact on one’s life. I really don’t shut up the first hour you are with me!!! I love my Saturday morning class. Everyone is always a little tired from the week but it’s partner day!! It’s a great way to start the weekend. The gym is usually packed, it’s typically a brutal wod. The energy is always amazing. A room full of people of different work capacities, different skill sets, different ages all working together to push each other to dig deeper and get better. Then everyone sits around for a half hour after just chatting it up. We have created a community. A community that sweats together, laughs together, swears together, sometimes cries together, and always supporting one another!!! I feel so fortunate to be a part of something so amazing!!!!”
