Foundations is an introduction course that will expose you to some of the movements we do, explain the why behind the program, and demystify nutrition. There are 3 sessions where you will meet one on one with a coach. These sessions will teach you all you need to know about doing CrossFit at CFSB. Cost is $90
What is CrossFit?
By definition it is constantly varied, functional movements, done at relatively high intensity. To simplify we do a bunch of different workouts, comprised of simple body weight and free weight movements, and we are pushing ourselves as hard as we want to or can on that day.
What makes us different then everyone else?
Aside from the fact that EVERY day you workout with us we do something completely different, you always have a coach to guide you, push you and keep you safe. We discuss nutrition and mindset on a daily basis and guide you to your full potential inside and outside of the gym.
I hear CrossFit is like a cult?
We are a community of moms, dads, brothers, sisters, daughters and sons. We come together to work hard in the gym to be ready to do the things we love outside of the gym. CrossFit is like nothing else out there. It is unique not only in its ability to evoke changes in all aspects of your health but all aspects of your life. As a community we support, inspire and believe in one another sometimes more than we believe in ourselves. If that’s a cult then yep, we are.
Who has to do Foundations?
Anyone new to CrossFit has to take foundations. We strive to move with virtuosity. That means doing the common uncommonly well. The best place to learn this is in a one on one setting
What do we do in the one on one foundations classes?
While we review 9 specific movements, each class is set up to best support you. After getting to know you a bit, reviewing your goals we will do a warm up, movement review and end with a short work-out.
How do I know if I am ready and in enough shape for foundations?
Anyone is ready no matter what their fitness level. All of our movements can be tailored to your abilities.
What if I have an injury or a disability?
We are sorry to hear that but not a problem. The beauty of CrossFit is it can be adjusted or modified to fit anyone’s needs. In Foundations we can come up with a plan on how to accommodate any injury or disability?
What do I wear and how do I prepare for Foundations?
Drink plenty of water and be sure to eat an 1.5 hours before your foundations class. Wear clothes that are comfortable to move in. You will be getting up and down off the floor and sweating a bit. Be sure to wear sneakers and while there are plenty of CrossFit specific shoes out there, let’s just get you started.
I’ve heard CrossFit is dangerous, is it?
Anything done incorrectly can be dangerous. By going through Foundations, you are learning the correct way to move and approach workouts. Once in classes you are under the watchful eye of a coach whose sole purpose is to push you outside your comfort zone while maintaining a safe environment. CrossFit done correctly is not dangerous.
